Remarkable things happen when people have positive experiences in nature. In an environment with fewer walls and roofs, it is not uncommon for strangers to become friends, and for friends to become family. My mission is to help forge bonds between communities and the natural world, and help everyday people become stewards of the wild outdoors in their own backyards.
I am a natural science illustrator who specializes in applying the principles of both art and science to environmental education. Through informative, yet captivating and artistic interpretive design, I work with my clients to inspire their visitors to stop and connect more intimately with their surroundings.
I grew up in the Central Valley of California, surrounded by grasslands, vernal pools, and wetlands that I didn’t know much about until I took a naturalist training course in college. After I obtained my degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of California Merced, I found myself continuing a journey filled with never-ending discovery and learning. I banded and monitored birds, wrote natural history website content for the Sierra Nevada Research Stations, mentored high school students through the SLEWS program, led nature field trips, and conducted environmental field and laboratory work. I then worked as an art assistant and learned to design interpretive signage under the mentorship of RummStudio, an established name in the field with both regional and international works of interpretive art.
